Image the whole server

I am running Solaris 10. Servername is xpluto.

What is the command to take an image of this server including all the directories and files listed below so I can restore the image if something goes wrong?

There are several more or less reliable and demanding ways to achieve that.

Which one is better depends on your precise requirements.

For one thing, "all the files and directories listed below" do no have to be backed up. In particular, swap, proc, mntab, etc. What you need is a quiescent system (single user, snapshot, or boot off CD), and then backup up the partitions you are using, which appear to be:

c1t0d0s0, s1, s3, s5, s6 and s7, and
c1t1d0s0

Do you have a tape drive? Or access to a tape drive on another machine? Or adequate drive space available on another machine? With a bit more information, someone can toss you a few commands, a script, or a web link.

extserver:/san/work

No tape drive but how there's space on /san/work.

We currently use flash archive http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/content/...sh_archive.jsp, works pretty well as a backup tool, there is also ufsdump.
