Hey there,
Glad I could help
As for partitioning, if you aren't using something like LVM or DiskSuite/Volume Manager, you can use the basic "format" command to partition your disk (after install). Under format, you need to (hopefully I'm remembering this correctly) select a disk, then partition, then print (This will show you the partitions you have set up). To select any single one, just type the number of the slice. To remove it have it start at 0 with a size of 0.
The downside to not using volume manager software of some sort is that, in order to grow or shrink a partition (even if you have plenty of free space on your disk) you need to back it up, delete it and then recreate it.
Unless you're working off a cookie-cutter base OS install on a primary disk (and not doing any mirroring) I would recommend that you, at least, go with Solaris DiskSuite (Now referred to as Solaris Volume Manager). It will save you some headaches and a lot of time. Just remember, with SDS and SVM you can only "grow" partitions. If you want to "shrink" them, you need Veritas volume manager or a similar product.
Best wishes,
Mike
