How do you install additional software on Solaris?

Hello all,
Here is another noob question. Could someone explain how to install packages or supply a site with a clearly laid out tutorial for an absolute beginner to Linus/Solaris.
I've tried some basic commands through the terminal window, however they do not seem to work. Obviously user error on my part.
Most of the explanations I am finding seem to leaving out basic fundamentals of the process.

Thanks, your time is appreciated.

Some Solaris software are packages.
Use "pkgadd" to install these.
