How do I update an opensolaris live zone?

I noticed that I cannot pkg image-update a zone on opensolaris because pkg complains about not being able to update a live zone (I just updated the global zone to 91). What I did was a pkg list of all the installed packages, filtered for ^SUNW and "updating" them with a pkg install. I obviously don't like this way of doing things. How should I do that? I couldn't find help in the documentation.
