Hot swap noon help.

Hey all,

Asking for some help here as I am very new into using sun os.

Have a computer with 2 HDD. Drive 1 is the os system...drive 2 is a database storage area. I am trying to create a copy of drive 1 to be able to swap easily should the drive fail. So using kronos to do a bit for bit copy of drive 1 to a similar hard drive (same storage space). The copy completes but when I install the spare drive it will not boot up. A friend told me that it is probably because the hdd are different models and the boot sector are different.

Can anyone recommend a program or way that I can make a backup of drive 1 that will boot up when I swap the drives easily.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

It sounds to me more likely that while you are copying the actual data in the partitions on the first drive to the other drive, the boot information in the MBR is not getting installed on the second drive, which means that the computer doesn't know what to do with the new drive when you boot.

Look for options in kronos for copying the boot sectors as well.

I think
Code:

dd
works there too?
