Help with simple script?

Hello.

Can someone help me to write a small script?

This is on Solaris 5.6 and Solaris 10.

I want the script to be run on both machines. Both machines have netscape browser installed.

I want the script to launch netscape, kill it, and then record the amount of time (using the time command) to see how long it took. I'm doing this to find out the performance improves on Solaris 10 (based on faster hardware, memory, etc).

As you describe it, your script is going to measure how fast you can kill a process, not how long that it takes to start a browser. You'll need some callback from netscape that tell it has finished starting and possibly loading a page if you want to measure that too. I don't know if this is easy to implement.
Perhaps monitoring the process CPU load will allow to deduce the launch is done (i.e. load going back to zero).
