export CDE solaris 9

Allo
I need some help to configure Solaris 9 to export CDE displays to different clients running an X-server. "Man dtlogin" didn't make much sense to me.
Has anyone some experience with this?
(I don't mean to install XFree on Solaris, nor do I want to use VNC.)

Many TIA's, Buster

There is no need to configure anything, this works out of the box, assuming you didn't disable dtlogin.

I would have thought installing an XFree or Xorg server was mandatory in order to export a desktop?

Well, technically not, as the X server is precisely not going to run locally but on a remote host.

Perhaps the OP need to clarify what he means by "export CDE displays".

Excuses for this stone age terminology.
:-)
This indeed means "exporting CDE clients (desktops) form the Solaris server to remote workstations running X-servers" (like Linux, Windows etc.).

As you mentioned: it should run out-of-the-box. But..... that should mean there is already an UDP port open to advertise the service. Do you have a hunch where this is configured?

tnx.

This is the well known xdmcp port: udp/177, it can be changed (but why would you want to do that ?) with the dtlogin -udpPort option.

OK, I 'm going to work on this one.
(and no, I 'm not planning to change that port).

Thanks again jlliagre,

Buster.
