Error message while trying to install Sudo

I am trying to install sudo on my Solaris9 box, but when I run ./configure, it runs partially and stops at the following error:

checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot cs

When I looked at the configure.log, I saw the ff segconfigure:3849: checking for C compiler version
configure:3852: cc_name --version </dev/null >&5
./configure: cc_name: command not found
configure:3855: $? = 127
configure:3857: cc_name -v </dev/null >&5
./configure: cc_name: command not found
configure:3860: $? = 127
configure:3862: cc_name -V </dev/null >&5
./configure: cc_name: command not found
configure:3865: $? = 127
configure:3889: checking for C compiler default output
configure:3892: cc_name conftest.c >&5
./configure: cc_name: command not found
configure:3895: $? = 127
configure: failed program was:
| #line 3868 "configure"
| /* confdefs.h. */

Could anyone help me out of this mess?

Why don't you install the sudo package from Sun freeware?
