Solaris like most linux, BSD and proprietary Unixes (with the notable exception of Mac OS/X) is using X Window (aka X11) as a low level graphic layer, on top of which a very large number of window and desktop managers using various toolkits can be used.
So the answers you can get for the very same question you asked on the programming forum will apply to Solaris too.

Ok, i will detail what i exactly need.

I have a window in which i have a toolbar.
I want the toolbar to be dockable as well as floating.
You can see the floating toolbar in OpenOffice as follows:

Hold Ctrl key and drag the main toolbar in OpenOffice anywhere in the OpenOffice Writer window. After releasing the mouse button the toolbar will become floating. To dock it again hold Ctrl key again and drag the toolbar to the left, it will be docked to the left.
Same thing you can see in MS Word.
As i pointed out earlier, check out the following article about floating toolbars in OpenOffice:
http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=7850

I want this funxctionality in my application and i want to know the X-windows API for that.

I have to repeat myself,
this question is not Solaris specific, do not cross-post the same question to more than one forum. It will be more productive for you and the rest of us to discuss further that on the programming thread you started.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
