crypt() function

Can someone point me the difference between standard conforming crypt() and the one used with <crypt.h> ?

I believe the Solaris implementation allows more flexibility (${algorithm} prefix support).
Standard conforming crypt:
http://cvs.opensolaris.org/source/xr...ommon/_crypt.c
Solaris own crypt:
http://cvs.opensolaris.org/source/xr...rt/gen/crypt.c
