Composing and sending HTML mail from mailx

Hi,

I have a number of ksh scripts which are running under Solaris 2.6. Each script dynamically builds up a file which has to be mailed to a number of MS Windows PCs using the standard 'mailx' mail program on Unix. This has been done and works without any problem.

However what I now need to do is to build and mail the file as an HTML mail file so that the Windows PC's can highlight sections of the mail with different colours, using bold text and underlining etc.

Does anyone know if this can be done and, if it can, what needs to be done on the to ensure that the the mail is displayed with the HTML highlighting rather just displaying the HTML code

Can't you just include it as an attachment? I do believe that most MS mailreaders show the content right away (I'm not a windows user, so please correct me if I'm wrong).

The next part might trigger a heated discussion, which is not what I'm after.... But I do think that mail should be sent the way it is intended and 'html-mail' is not one of those ways.

Just my 2 cents.

I know what you mean, however the users want any errors to be high-lighted, as the scripts build up a status report. They also want in e-mail rather than as an attachment for some reason.
Unfortunately I'm not a Windows user either but have tried sending HTML in the e-mail and Windows just displays the HTML code. I presume that there should be something extra in the header of the e-mail
