cdrom mount


hi,

The command for mount: mount -F -o ro /dev/dsk/s0c0...xx /mnt/cdrom
i did not know how to find the s0c0..xxx for cdrom device? do you have
any idea?

If you haven't disabled it, vold will mount your cdrom automatically for you without a need to know the exact device name.

Otherwise, on my PC, the device is c1t0d0p0 and it should have been c0t0d0p0 if connected to the first IDE controller.

i installed solaris8 on core mode and i did not find command vold? Do you have more ideas?

vold, like most of the executables ending by the letter "d" is a deamon, so you usually do not need to launch it manually.
Just do "ps -ef|grep vold" to see if it is running.

vold should be part of the core solaris installation, so is expected to already run.
If it does not, you can start it with this command (as root):

/etc/init.d/volmgt start

Then, inserting a CD-ROM in the reader should after a couple of seconds automatically mount it in /cdrom/<something>, with the link /cdrom/cdrom0 pointing to it so "cd /cdrom/cdrom0" always put you on the CD root.
