cdrecord problem
Hi, I am trying to burn DVDs on my computer, but everytime I try, I get the following error. I have a external Iomega USB burner, and it is a Sun Blade 2000 with Solaris 9 installed. cdrecord has no problem with scanbus or blank=fast on the disk. I would appreciate any help
# ./cdrecord dev=3,0,0 -dao -dummy -speed=2 fs=20 sun4.iso ./cdrecord: Fifo size 20 too small, turning fifo off. Or looks like a buffer problem |
Should'nt you be using dvdrecord instead of cdrecord to burn DVDs?
On the other hand, you could use some GUI software like 'K3B' to burn the CDs and DVDs. It uses tools like 'cdrecord' in the background and also has an intutive interface. |
The data is only 16MB, so I don't think that is the problem. I downloaded the binaries from his website, so the cdrecord is the latest version, and should handle DVDs.
How do I change the buffer? |
Why do you feel there is an error ?

When I tried to open the disk in another computer I got this message:

You do not answer my question which is:
Why do you (and everyone else there) feel there is an error in the cdrecord log sent in the first posting ? |
The last two lines of the message say that there is an error
./cdrecord: A write error occured. ./cdrecord: Please properly read the error message above. and since I can't open the DVD at all, and it doesn't appear to be finalized, and the last time I tried to use the DVD, I had to reboot the computer to get the disk out |
The very last line of the message is telling:
Please properly read the error message above. You didn't followed that advice. There is actually no error in this log, and the fact you cannot open the DVD is correct, as you didn't wrote anything on it. Both the command line option ask for no physical write (-dummy), and the command log tells it. |
I wrote it with out the -dummy, and I got the same error message, and the disk drive couldn't oped the DVD
|
There is no real error message in the first posting, the message is:
./cdrecord: I/O error. write_g1: scsi sendcmd: no error CDB: 2A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 1F 00 status: 0x0 (GOOD STATUS) Can you post the message you got now without "-dummy". |
# ./cdrecorda dev=3,0,0 -dao driveropts=burnfree -eject sun4.iso

Try upgrading to 2.01b38 to see if it improves.

I gave up with cdrecord and switched to growisofs. That seems to be working fine, although there were errors in the Makefile and Makefile.m4
