Where do you go? I NEED assistance here please. I have very crucial PDF docs to be printed and since the installation di not work I guess I have to just boot into Windows and print there...
Unless theres ANY WAY I can extract all the text form the PDF fileand past them onto StarOffice....Thats all I need...I dont have to install xpdf... |
Quote:
Call pkg-get again in 'upgrade all' mode eg: '/opt/csw/bin/pkg-get upgrade' If you have trouble understanding that, no problem, just run: Code:
pkg-get upgrade Code:
/opt/csw/bin/pdftotext somefile.pdf |
See posts #12 and 13..I already told it to update...And then it did this:
Code:
ERROR: could not add CSWcommon. |
I am VERY very confused now...It will take me about 10 years to install this...Now, heres what I did AGAIN AND AGAIN...Why is this so hard to do??? Now, what should I do next at this point on??????? I need this by midnight....BUT I DOUBT THAT CAN BE EVEN ACCOMPLISHED...
Code:
# pkgadd -d /tmp/pkg_get.pkg |
Your Blastwave installation looks broken.
You can remove the whole of it with this command (no typo allowed there !): Code:
yes|/usr/sbin/pkgrm `pkginfo | grep CSW | nawk '{print $2}'` |
OK, first I should fic this by doing this command...right??
Code:
yes|/usr/sbin/pkgrm `pkginfo | grep CSW | nawk '{print $2}'` Code:
# pkgadd -d /tmp/pkg_get.pkg |
See post #20 for the answer to your first question.
Your second question is irrelevant, instead read again post #9. |
Thats what I was saying....IS to first do the FIX COMMAND...and then download the application again and start from scratch again...thats all.
But even if I run Xpdf...it will still give me problems with printing since xpdf is still a PDF apllication... |
I did this. And then after this, should I start all oover again?? I did this command: yes|/usr/sbin/pkgrm `pkginfo | grep CSW | nawk '{print $2}'`
Code:
Do you want to remove this package? [y,n,?,q] |
Now what should I do next??? It does not tell me what to do now? Heres what I did:
Code:
This program is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, Code:
Installation of <CSWxpdf> was successful. |
XPDF is INSTALLED...But I WANT TO extract or COPY the contents from the GNOME PDF VIEWER and copy it to StarOFFICE...But Im soooo lost right now on what this program will do....
Can you explain to me on this xpdf works??? All I want to do is print or grab or copy the contents from GNOME PDF and paste it onto Star OFFICE...so I can print it... I dont even know what rpgram you made me download to be honest with you....Please explain...WIll this rpint all of my PDF files or what? I am very lost at this moment. WHen I open XPDF itself...it only gives me a blank gray screen...I dont know....I am LOST LOST LOST....I just want to rpint my PDF files or COPY/PASTE it onto a StarOffice Text editor... Also, I did this too.. Code:
$ /opt/csw/bin/pdftotext hp_ux_11.pdf So what does this Xpdf used for..Because I opened up XPDF like from the directory: Code:
/opt/csw/bin/xpdf |
as400, I know nothing about the package you are using, but assuming the file isn't stuffed, have a look at the documentation, it seems quite common in linux that with one file specified in this type of app. that it tries to write to itself rather than stdout. Perhaps something like
pdftotext 816_1048.pdf 816_1048.txt would be the applicable syntax. Just a thought |
What should I use then??? Or do??? Because I NEED TO PRINT these files...I need to do something and Im confused right now..What command should I use?
NO luuck...look. Code:
$ pdftotext 816_1048.pdf Still no luck Code:
$ xpdf hp_ux_11.pdf It looks liket his will not work..But why? Am I doing something wrong here? All I want to do, is since I cannot print PDF files from my printer, I need to extract the contents of the PDF file to StarOffice, but I cannot get this application to work for some reason. |
Back up a couple of steps. What viewer are you using in gnome? under fc5, it fires up evince, which lets me select all text and copy it from a sample pdf I made with openoffice.
In your last post, it looks like you need the path to executables as per you first attempt in post 26. |
I am using GNOME PDF viewer..And here how I get it up and running:
1. I go to /bin/pdflauncher... 2. Then, I select OPEN in the FILE menu. And then I select my path to were all my PDF docs are located then I click on the right PDF file then I click on open... This method does not bother me if there is a better shortcut to this the way I do it...I JUST WANT TO PRINT..or If I cannot print because I dont have the right PostScript drivers, then I want to COPY the contents and PASTE it onto something like StarOffice text.. |
