can I set the password history in solaris


Hi,

is it possible to set the password history for sun solaris ?

there is 'HISTORY' in the /etc/default/password file in NCR unix that keep track of the old password entries. but wonder is there in solaris..

HISTORY is in the very same file under Solaris:
/etc/default/passwd

hi,

is the parameter only work for specific version of solaris ?

i did tried add the parameter in solaris v7 but didn't seem to work, i still can change with the same password again.

anyway, thanks a lot !!

It should probably work with Solaris 7, but beware that it is only supported with the default credential backend (/etc/passwd, /etc/shadow).
If you are using NIS, LDAP or whatever to store your passwords, it won't work.
