Can i install xfce without root access ?

Hello there
I have an old sun machine "SunOS 5.8 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-100" running on Solaris8 at work that i only have a user access to it "no root access"
Can i install xfce environment on the machine (just to be used by me, not system wide)?, if possible without the root access can anyone give some tips .. i am mostly used to Linux easy installations using yum, apt, ..

That could present a problem regarding LQ rules. If this machine is at work then someone is probably in charge of running it. You should ask that person about any changes that interest you.
