a question on packaging....Struck with a dir format, unable to convert it into .pkg!!

Hi all,

I just created a pkg to see if i could make one
I am 100% newbie.
But i am not able to get the .pkg extension at all..
When i go into /var/spool/pkg my newly created pkg is listed but its in a dir format...
i know that it will be created as a dir itself but how do i convert it into a pkg??

Code:
bash-3.2# pkgmk
## Building pkgmap from package prototype file.
## Processing pkginfo file.
WARNING: parameter <PSTAMP> set to "Harivayu20080627201208"
WARNING: parameter <CLASSES> set to "none"
## Attempting to volumize 13 entries in pkgmap.
part 1 -- 60 blocks, 37 entries
## Packaging one part.
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/pkgmap
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/pkginfo
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/reloc/SHAMpk/Advanced/afile1
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/reloc/SHAMpk/Advanced/afile2
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/reloc/SHAMpk/Advanced/afile3
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/reloc/SHAMpk/Help/hfile1
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/reloc/SHAMpk/Help/hfile2
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/reloc/SHAMpk/Tutorials/tfile1
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/reloc/SHAMpk/Tutorials/tfile2
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/reloc/SHAMpk/Tutorials/tfile3
/var/spool/pkg/SHAMtest/reloc/SHAMpk/pkginfo
## Validating control scripts.
## Packaging complete.
then the pkgmap looks like this in /var/spool/pkg/<my pkg>/
Code:
: 1 60
1 d none SHAMpk 0755 root root
1 d none SHAMpk/Advanced 0755 root root
1 f none SHAMpk/Advanced/afile1 0644 root root 0 0 1214593105
1 f none SHAMpk/Advanced/afile2 0644 root root 0 0 1214593105
1 f none SHAMpk/Advanced/afile3 0644 root root 0 0 1214593105
1 d none SHAMpk/Help 0755 root root
1 f none SHAMpk/Help/hfile1 0644 root root 0 0 1214593093
1 f none SHAMpk/Help/hfile2 0644 root root 0 0 1214593093
1 d none SHAMpk/Tutorials 0755 root root
1 f none SHAMpk/Tutorials/tfile1 0644 root root 0 0 1214593052
1 f none SHAMpk/Tutorials/tfile2 0644 root root 0 0 1214593052
1 f none SHAMpk/Tutorials/tfile3 0644 root root 0 0 1214593052
1 f none SHAMpk/pkginfo 0644 root root 120 9596 1214592802
1 i pkginfo 162 12706 1214597528
~
could anyone tell me how i can create a pkg out of this dir structure?

Thanks

The pkgtrans command allows to convert a file system format package to a datastream one which is really what a .pkg file is.

Thanks!!!!

But i just figured that one out a couple of hrs ago myself.
So now i have created a pkg for myself, as of now it does nothing but have empty files ...
After using the pkgtrans cmd i was able to create a .pkg data stream that installs perfectly..

Now i would like to contribute to the community..
But i dont know the repository that holds the various pkg objects and how to create it?
Can you kindly give me more details on this?

Thanks
