Unfortunately, Slackware Linux Essentials, The Official Guide To Slackware Linux by David Cantrell, Logan Johnson, and Chris Lumens, is out of date relative to the current (9.1) release of Slackware. I just moved from Red Hat 8 to Slackware when Red Hat bailed from the individual workstation world, so I don't feel I'm anywhere near enough conversant with Slackware to volunteer for the position of documentation update editor. Maybe next release.
