What Format?

Installing Slackware on a 500GB disk with MS-DOS table. What type does the boot partition need to be for this to work?

unSpawn 05-30-2014 03:05 PM

Basically any partition type your boot loader recognizes ;-p

*BTW I'm moving this thread to Slackware/Installation.

Kind an odd question.

I think you mean loader/boot manager as opposed to /boot.

Here is one of many examples one might use. http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/i...ackware_1.html

The Slackware installer doen't change much over years, but this reference is pretty old (Slackware 11, and the current stable release is 14.1).

@Pinonoir: the boot partition needs to be of type "linux", and the installer will put a filesystem in it for you, that it'll let you choose among those available at most: btrfs ext2 ext3 ext4 jfs reiserfs xfs.
