I have to get linux on a new windows box. Having had laptops for 15 years, I feel a bit like the soldier coming out of the forest who is told "The war has been over for ages."

The video card has 4 sockets, and the third from the left fits my hdmi cable. What do the others fit? 4k?
What are the audio sockets? Line in, Line out, & ?? Are they 2 or 3 pin?
On the front, I have what looks like headphones & mic. I take it that's stereo headphones (3 pin) & mono microphone(2 pin)? Different to the 4 pin earphone things for mobile devices. That sort of detail matters when you're buying.
