Did you ever set networkmanager or wicd executable? They don't work by default.
NetworkManager is the default slackware wireless manager. To get it working, try the following:
Code:
su
netconfig
# select loopback to reset your settings
# then select networkmanager
exit
/etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager start
Then you should be able to see wireless networks in KDE's nm-applet icon and allow you to connect to it.
If that doesn't work, it is possible that Slackware doesn't contain the drivers for your wireless device. If it doesn't work, please provide the output of the following:
Code:
iwconfig
lspci -k | grep -iA3 net
EDIT: they started asking about your CD problems, but we never got a response. What groups are your user assigned to? Please provide the output of the
groups command. Also, do you see any output on
dmesg when you put a CD in your drive and close it?

Do you have both networkmanager and wicd set as executable? It is one or the other, but not both.

The cd problem is simply not knowing how to use it. It is the same on every machine I own. I put in cd or dvd and they do nothing. I have tried the mound command but I am evidently not grasping something here. As of now, I can on any machine go on the internet via cable. To date and this is since my first attemtps from 2002 never used a cd player, never installed flashplayer ergo no you tube stuff, or do any of the normal things you can do on a windows computer. Not happy with this, and now having more time on my hands, I thought if all I had was slack, I would be forced to learn it. so I converted every tablet, laptop and desktop in the house to slack 14. My wife made me leave her Alienware as a Windows 10 machine so she could still do what she wanted. I listened to her thank God or we would have been in deep sht.

What are you using for a desktop? KDE? XFCE? Something else? Command line only?
Did you do a full install of whatever version of slackware that you are running?
When you log in as your normal user, what is the output of...
...?

This is your wireless card:
Code:
0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01)
Subsystem: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card
-::-I had a hard time reading through all of the output.-::-

I have a BCM4312. Definitely doesn't do AP, as it's not in software and needs firmware but you should be able to get it going with the B43 kernel module. I don't think it likes WEP either. I have it running with wpa_supplicant & dhcpcd. There's a walkthrough here

I'm working on your CD problem. Once again, which desktop environment are you using? KDE, XFCE, something else or you don't use a graphical interface at all?
