Stuck with LILO error (Slackware 13.37)
After trying a few different package groups and unsuccessfully getting any XWindows desktops to load I finally went ahead and did a full install except K (kernel source), KDEI (international support), and Y (games).
Finally I started loading to the KDE desktop (previously I would just get a blank screen with a blinking prompt), but as soon as I went to change the desktop background the system froze. When I restarted my computer and tried to load LILO it freezes with the error "L99 99 99 99 99 99 .." filling about half the screen with '99s'. I tried re-installing Slackware twice now, making sure the LILO installation is correct (it was working fine before the crash), but I still get the same error. Help! |
Here's the contents of the lilo.conf file:

Update:
Got it working. I re-created my USB installer (in case for some reason the LILO installation files were changed on it?) and re-created the entry in the Windows boot menu with EasyBCD. I don't think the issue was the latter, since I was able to boot up and get into KDE before the error started. In short: got LILO working again...now to see if I can get a stable desktop up. Edit: Ah it was the Windows boot loader causing the problem. I need to re-create the Slackware entry with EasyBCD...I thought it worked before when I re-installed to the same partitions but maybe I created the entry each time. |
