Stuck in Command Line

I just installed Slackware, I finally got Lilo to work, I finally got my prompt to login as root. I do so, then I realize that there's no GUI at all. During configuration, I selected Blackbox to be my window manager, and did the full install this time (just in case). For some reason, I seem to be stuck in the command line.

try running "startx" as root? does that work?

I like people here... :)

Thanks a lot, for that. Now, in theory, shouldn't that have happened automatically at startup?

Hello dfego,

You may do it by changing run level to 5 (As it is with red hat) or just add the command startx in your
~/.bashrc file

Hope this helps you

NOT IN SLACKWARE

Change the runlevel in /etc/initab to 4 for GUI, not 5.

Sometimes, it helps if you know the distro, imagineers7, before you give advice in it....

While RH may use 5, in Slackware, 1 is single user, 3 is cli, and 4 is GUI.

Slackware is NOT Redhat/Fedora.

Thanks very much. That did the trick (editing /etc/inittab).
