Sound comes each time only when I run alsaconf.

Hello:

I have Asus A7V266-MX motherboard with on-board SoundMAX AD1980 soundcard working on Slackware 9.1. Initially when I installed alsa packages which come with Slackware 9.1 I had no sound though alsaconf recognized the sound card.

Later I downloaded the alsa 1.0.4 files, compiled and installed them. Now, after I run alsaconf, the sound card is recognized and I get sound.

But next time when I boot, sound does not work even though I have increased the volume to the maximum in alsamixer. But I get sound if I run alsaconf.

So, to get sound I have to run alsaconf each time. What is the problem? Please help.

Thanks in advance,

Anand

Yes.

But I found one problem. At the time of booting, mixer settings are not getting restored. After booting if I do

alsactl restore

I get sound without running alsaconf. So, I need to do alsactl restore each time I boot. Where shall I put this command?

AD1980 Soundcard worked in Slackware 9.1!

Finally sound worked !

I put alsactl restore command in /etc/rc.d/rc.local.
