slackware hangs after BIOS post
 

I just installed Slackware and what the title states, it hangs after post. I didn't recieve any errors while installing.

it just shows a completely blank console with a little text line ( _ ) at the top left, but it doesn't allow me to type anything.

Im assuming i didn't install the boot part right, I basically choose the default settings for lilo and didn't create a boot disk (my floppy doesn't work). With the little information i gave you can someone determine what i messed up? and what if any parameters are needed to boot correctly/what settings i need to choose.

I tried to install twice now, and my drive is partitianed into a primary linux and a linux swap.

where did you put the MBR???
which version of Slack did you install???

i installed version 9.1

and it didn't ask me where i wanted the mater boot record, it just let me choose it.

I forgot to mention this....
the first 2 times i installed linux (i had mandrake on before) it would get past post and then try to load mandrake 9.2 and it would freeze half way trying to load mandrake.

i got rid of this problem by typeing the following the directions of this post.

This basically "zeros out" your partition table. I found I had to do this inorder to install Slackware over a Redhat or Mandrake distribution. Note that command may need to be changed if you are using scsi drives or have several drives.

that got rid of my mandrake problem but now this occurs. Would me "zeroing out" my partition table affect the booting of slackware (i made new partitions before installing

i fixed the problem, it happened to be that i wasn't partitioning my harddrive correct. I used fdisk instead of cfdisk and it happen to work...
