Slackware boots with 99's across half the screen

I installed Slackware 9.1 on a machine at home. Now when I boot I get the number 99 printed over and over from about 10 rows down the screen.

This happens right after Bios detects all my drives and the normal boot process would occur. I know the machine is ok. I had Mandrake runing on it with out any problems.

I did an install of Slackware at work and didn't have any major issues so I thought I would try it at home.

Does anyone have any idea?

What that means is lilo is pissed off. You probably just need to go in and install lilo to the MBR. That option is calls (possibly dangerous). They label it that way because it'll overwrite any other boot loader you might have on your system.

just in case you wanna replace your windows bootloader(assuming you have windows in your pc), you can just use the repair mode in your windows cd to restore the boot back to windows. Do a fixmbr and fixboot.

Hmm... this was a clean install. I formated the harddrive during the installation so there should be no old windows bootloader.

I had similar problems. I think I fixed it running xf86config. Anyway it may be a place to start? Make sure your monitor and graphics card settings are correct.

Thanks jtshaw, your advice worked.

I still don't understand why I had this problem since the drive was formated and no other boot loaders existed.
