Unhappy Slackware 9.1 installation Errors Need immediate Assistance!

Hello,
I am relatively new to the world of Linux, although I have done enough research and reading and searching everything linux I still cannot get the darn thing to install properly on my machine. I read the installation help on slackware.com but I still encounter errors.

My partitions are fine. When I get to the part that says to install a kernel I go for the bare one. My linux computer is a 700mhz 128RAM P3 20G and I am having a real hard time installing this darn kernel.

Also has anyone had the problem where their keyboard no longer functions when you try to install your ROOT password towards the end of the installation. I loaded the us map but still nocando.

LILO..oh god LILO ...what can I say but that it will not install. I keep getting errors galore.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
I would greatly appreciate it. I will not give up although I have lost two nights sleep.

Thanks.
Cranky @ Linux

P.S It still rocks. if only I can get it on my system

I can tell you that if you're trying to install LiLO to the / partition rather than the MBR, it may not be installing correctly, or at all. Is that what you're trying to do?

Welcome to LQ!

If you will read the Slackware-HOWTO file on the Slackware CD1,
it will answer all of your installation questions. If you are talking
about the part during installation, after Package Series Selection
where you start the Configuration, you should choose Skip and
let it use the kernel it booted to get you that far.

As has been said, your keyboard didn't stop working, the input
of the password is masked, meaning you can't see it. If you
enter it, then it will prompt you to enter it again for confirmation,
then it will continue from there with the prompt for you to exit
and reboot.

If you will look at this thread where I advised someone else
about installing LiLO, I think you'll be able to follow that info
and get yours installed. As Holly said, put LiLO in the MBR,
and use the expert installation so you can choose and see
what you've doing. Here's the link ->
