Slackware 9.1 Install problem

I'm trying to install Slack 9.1. The boot disk bare.i, and rootdisks load fine. It even detects the the ATAPI 52X CDRom at boot time, and when it asks me to load the first Slack 9.1 CD, it recognizes it. But after I go through the rest of the configuration process, when I tell it to actually install Slack, it says it can't find any IDE/SCSI drive at all. The drive is /dev/hdd, I don't think I can change that. The motherboard is an AMD board, the pc is a custom-built that is several years old now. I installed RH FC2 but I'd much rather run Slack. I'm pretty much a complete n00b, having used M$ for so long, so any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

akempo

This link

suggests you may have a corrupt cd, or you may need to pass the nodma option at boot like this.

Boot: bare.i ide=nodma

good luck.

Got it!

Turned out to be a corrupted iso image, I installed Slack 10 from cd. Now if I can just figure out why Konquerer isn't using eth0 to communicate to the world...

What is the output of /sbin/lspci -v, /sbin/lsmod, and ifconfig -a? What is your network topology? How do you connect to the internet?
good luck.
