slackware 14.2 touch screen installation problem on panel pc

Hello,

I have a problem with installing PenMount touchscreen driver in Slackware 14.2 based system with X11 on panel PC - AFL-08A-N26/R/2G-R11 https://www.ieiworld.com/en/product/model.php?II=30. I want to use it with X11. X11 is working but only with vesa config file. The xorgsetup could not setup the proper configuration. But this is not a problem now. I want to use the touch screen with this device. Unfortunatelly the producer does not provide any Linux drivers with this product. There is only dvd with Win7 drivers. BTW I installed win7 and checked that touch screen is working fine. Win7 uses com5, irq10, 0250-0257 settings. This panel is ecquipped with 3 serials. I found setup files for Linux for PenMount 6000 rs232 on the www.penmount.com. There is no specific driver for Slackware distro. I tried Ubuntu and Feroda drivers on different versions, but no positive results.

When the installation is started it tries to find the serial for the panel but it can not!

In win7 COM5 was used. In Slackware i have ttyS1 with the same params like in win7. Is it OK? Generally i have ttyS0-S4 in Linux.

I installed the PenMount drivers on different panel in SlackWare 14.1 without any problems. It was AFL-08AH-N270/R/1G-R23. The same series but different processor.

What could be the reason of problems with detecting the PenMount in Slackware 14.2?

Any help appretiated.

Regards,
Robert

I think the N2600 atom has silicon graphics as a video solution incorporated. I own a N2800 box on which I never got X11 to work properly. For me this was not an issue because it is a headless box.
Recently I installed a kaby lake i3 PC and also could not get X11 to work with anything other then vesa.
I solved that by updating the kernel to a more modern one. Kaby Lake was not supported until 4.9.x apparently.

The method I used is described here : https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ke-4175600445/
I had a lot of help from several LQ forum members.

I think this would be a solution for you too on the N2600 platform.

Riwi,

Thanx for the response. At the moment the touch panel is more important to me. I can not make it working.

In the meantime i was contacted by support. They suggested setup IRQ Share mode for Fintech Super IO F81866 UART. They sent me a program to setup this. I entered suggested commands:
"sudo ./io_config -e 2E -k 8787 -l 10 -i F0 -w 03"
"sudo ./io_config -e 2E -k 8787 -l 10 -i F6 -w 03"

which should enable IRQ Sharing.

But still touch driver setup does not detect PenMount. Still dont know what to do

Do You have any experience with setting up the irq sharing with F81866?

Any help?
Robert

The reason of not working touch screen was limited number of serial ports visible by the OS. The solution is: compiling and installing the kernel with nr_uarts=6 (option in lilo append is not working), setting IRQ sharing in F81866, installing PenMount soft under x11. Now it is working.

Robert
