Slackware 14.2 install: fr keyboard map selection

Hi,

Exploring Slackware 14.2 through install on
Virtualbox/Debian 8.6 host.

[Edit] Installed using: slackware-14.2-install-dvd.iso

Selected "azerty/fr-latin9.map" in the "keyboard
map selection" options, according to Debian's
/etc/default/keyboard (see below)...

The keyboard map test is unsatisfactory:
accented characters are not displayed correctly
(displays squares instead).

[Edit] Tried all other "azerty/fr*" options, no difference

USB Logitech UltraX Media Keyboard

Code:
## Debian 8.6: /etc/default/keyboard

# KEYBOARD CONFIGURATION FILE

# Consult the keyboard(5) manual page.

XKBMODEL="pc105"
XKBLAYOUT="fr"
XKBVARIANT="latin9"
XKBOPTIONS=""

BACKSPACE="guess"

I tried with another fr keyboard (USB Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000): no difference.

Screenshot in attachment, showing "azertyéèàù" output.

Try fr (no variant under X either).

PS And use the default font console, not a custom one proposed by the installer.

But I suggest that after installation you switch to a suitable terminus font "ter-1*" in /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts). They are not proposed during installation.

Here is my /etc/rc.d/rc.font:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
#
# This selects your default screen font from among the ones in
# /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts.
#
setfont -v ter-116b.psf.gz
ter-1 => includes the glyphs you need for French.
16 => font size (I have a full HD screen).
c => bold.

Bon courage.

PPS in Slackware font settings are completely separate for the console and under X.
