Slackware 12 SATA/SCSI instalation problem

Hello, I need some help with Slack 12.
I tried to install it on a computer with 2 SATA disks and a SCSI DVD unit. The problem is how to mount my DVD. Setup cannot automatically find my DVD drive and I also tried to mount sdb, sdc etc. with no success. I suspect that if I disconnect first hard drive then I can mount dvd drive on /dev/sda, but I cannot try that because I am not allowed to open the case.

Thanks
Tichy

Take a look at this procedure for installing slackware 12 from a hard drive source:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ight=slackware

It might work for you as well, although you present a different context. Basically, you copy the /slackware directory on the dvd to some partition on your hard drive or an external usb hard drive/flash drive and direct the installation routine to use that as a source since it doesn't recognize your dvd drive. Although the slack installation routine couldn't find my dvd drive during the installation, after I did the install from a hard drive source everything went OK and on reboot, the installed slack 12 was able to detect my dvd drive.

Hi,

Which kernel did you use?

You should read the Slackware 12.0 CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT, UPGRADE.TXT and RELEASE_NOTES!
