Slackware 12.1, Cant Partition Old Slackware 12.0 System

cfdisk: Opened disk read-only - you have no permission to write...

That's the message I get when I try to partition my old Slackware system. So I popped in Gparted and overwrote the disk, but I'm still getting the same message.

It wouldn't be a big deal, but I need to use the cfdisk to write LVM. Gparted doesn't appear to have the option.

Any advice?

You're making us guess, so here goes ...

My guess is you have a PATA CD/DVD-ROM drive,
and a SATA hard drive. If this guess is correct,
you should use "cfdisk /dev/sda" ...

If I'm right, do I get the $64,000?

Yeah, I guess I had a momentary lapse of brain power and went on autopilot...

1.) Problem doesn't work?!...
2.) Try one solution
3.) Ask on LQ...

My bad :-p
