Question slackware 10.1 picks up wrong (old) kernel.

I have P3 machine with slackware 9.1 installed on it. It has kernel 2.4.22. Recently I added a new 80GB hdd to my machine and installed slackware 10.1 on it. The slack9 and slack10 share only the swap and /home. The new slack10 has kernel 2.4.26.

I didn't choose to install lilo through slack10 installation, instead I rebooted my machine with slack9 and changed my existing lilo.conf file for slack10 and then re-installed lilo (in mbr). Now, the problem I am facing is as follows:

When I select slack10, it still seems to boot with kernel version 2.4.22 (which is slack9) version. I tried booting up my machine with slack10 CD and gave "bare.i root=<my slack10 root> noinitrd ro" at the boot prompt and for the first time slack10 booted up properly with kernel 2.4.26. But this happens only when I boot my machine with slack10 CD. When I boot using lilo it again boots up with kernel 2.4.22!!

I checked and rechecked my lilo.conf file to see if I did specify wrong root partition, but it is correct. How do I make slack9 and slack10 to pick proper kernel? Or it is just not possible to have two different slackware installations on the same machine? Your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks!
Atul.

You've to mount the slack 10.1 partition so lilo can read the kernel file when installing itself.
To do that you'll have to use a image file like image=/mnt/slack10.1/boot/vmlinuz in your 9.1's lilo.conf, of course, if you mounted the slack 10.1 partition in /mnt/slack10.1/
