If you are not using lilo why are you asking? The slackpkg tool will show that hint about running "lilo" only if it just installed or upgraded a kernel and you have the "/sbin/lilo" program installed. If you installed lilo and grub, and are using grub, then you can ignore any comments and suggestions about lilo.
Grub works differently than lilo: grub does not have to be re-run after updating your kernel.

I ran Slackpkg and installed (slackpkg update gpg) and (slackpkg update) then Slackpkg upgrade-all
After install (upgrade-all) is when I get the message
If I run (slackpkg clean-system) it trys to remove my open office installation; why not my google chrome too?

Asking questions without giving the details of your installation will not get you any relevant answer. All I can say, neither OpenOffice nor Google Chrome are part of Slackware, they are 3rd party and therefore slackpkg will show a suggestion about removing them when you run "slackpkg clean-system", which is the command meant to remove all packages that are not part of the distro release you are running.
If one of these two is not mentioned in the command's output then it will have to do with your local situation, but as you do not mention any specifics this is all I can tell you.
