slack won't boot

the only way i can get slackware to boot is using the floppy, and that REALLY blows. lilo won't work at all, it just doesn't seem to start up. when i turn on the computer, if it attempts to load from the hard drive, all it says is "L 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99" and repeats the 99 halfway down the screen and then i can't do anything. i have to reboot, only to get the same stupid problem. I've reinstalled about 8 times, and it's really starting to bother me. there is nothing on the hdd other than the slackware installation. could it be with where the swap drive is located/how big it is? I think i finally ended up making it a logical extension of 350 megs on the end of the drive, after the ext2 partition. PLZ HELP!! lol this is really tickin me off

:D thnx,

Where did you install LILO to? The MBR is where you probably want it if Slack is going to be your only OS. Try running liloconfig again and setting LILO to install to the MBR.

Try uninstalling LILO and then reinstalling it. What I mean is removepkg lilo and then installpkg lilo. You'll probably have to grab the LILO package off the Slackware install CD or from the Slackware website. After install run 'lilo -v' just to make sure. Let me know if this works.
