sata harddisk


hi,
i have a bad internet connection so in order to install slackware
i downloaded rootdisks , bootdisks a and ap packages for still
i used linux on my old machine so there was no problem installing
on this way.bu t on my new havin a sata harddisk computer
cannot recognize my harddisk. if you explain how to do it
i will be glad.

Same problem here few days ago. I managed to complete the install by setting the sata bus into 'IDE legacy mode' (not quite sure about the exact wording, I'm not in front of that machine right now) in the computers BIOS settings. The drive then was recognized as a regular IDE drive (/dev/hda). It's probably less of a hassle to recompile sata support into the kernel once you've got your system up and running and switch back to 'true' sata afterwards.
