Running Slack-current

I have been away for slackware for a time...anyone out there running current? Issues? Advice?

I can get the ISO easy enough. I want to give it a go and see what kde 4.2 has to offer.

Thanks.

I guess the usual CURRENT.WARNING, UPGRADE.TXT, ChangeLog.txt and any interesting .TXT in the -current mirror are enough. I haven't tried the new kde yet.
Good luck!

Hello,

If you want to see KDE 4.2 in Slackware -current, it's no problem as long as you follow the installation instructions (nobody complained that these instructions were misleading).

However I would suggest that you wait until KDE 4.2 is moved from the testing/ directory into the main tree of Slackware -current.

As mentioned in the KDE4 README:

Quote:
These packages are for Slackware -current, but _for now_, they will also
work on Slackware 12.2. However, work is planned in -current to move some
library versions up which will render future -current packages incompatible
with Slackware 12.2, so if you wish to use these packages with Slackware
12.2, grab them now while they work.

This is kde-4.2.0! Probably soon this well be merged into the main
Slackware tree under slackware/l and slackware/kde, but we'll start it off
here to make it easier to download.
Major changes are coming to Slackware -current. So if you are not in a hurry, I would advise to wait for those changes to have come before running -current.
