Replacing kernel bare.i with usb.s?

Kernel 2.4.22, Slackware 9.1

Hi: when installing I chose the bare.i kernel. I now want to change it to usb.s. Would you please tell me how to do it?

First I do not see any usb.s kernel here:
http://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub...e-9.1/kernels/

That said, I woud look into the http://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/slackware/slackware-9.1/kernels/<new kernel> directory, put the content into /boot after renaming then:
1) symlink vmlinuz to the new bzImage (renamed)
2) symlink System.map to the new system.map.gz (renamed and gunzipped)
3) symlink config to the new config (renamed)
4) run "lilo -t -v" then "lilo" if all goes well, after having edited /etc/lilo.conf as needed
5) I don't know if the modules in /lib/modules are suitable for your new kernel. If not you'll need to issue "make modules" then "make modules install" commands, having copied the new config as /usr/src/linux/.config, of course

I am just downloading Slackware 9.1 disk 3 (theres a #4 too; I hope this is the one) so as to have them once and for all. As to your instructions, I'll follow them and let you know when done. Thanks a lot.

Oh, I almost forgot: I suppose (not absolutely sure, though) that you should run "make oldconfig" before "make modules". Of course you will need to have the kernel-source package installed first.
