problems booting slackware

first off, apologies. I posted this in the main forum first then I saw this sub-forum.

I have my hdd set as primary slave and had no problems installing slackware on my 40gigs of unpartitioned space of my hd. I have windows xp in the first 40 gigs.

When I was asked to install lilo I opted to install it in MBR as I want to dual boot my machine. I got an error message saying that LILO could not be installed to MBR.

I don't have a boot diskette, as I don't have a floppy drive.

My only problem now is that obviously only windows will boot and I don't have any way to boot linux. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Boot the Slackware CD, it should have instructions on the first page, eg:

Code:
boot: bare.i root=/dev/hda1 ro
Where /dev/hda1 is your Slackware installation.

Then try using grub instead of lilo (package at http://www.linuxpackages.net)

Install using 'installpkg grub*.tgz'

And try running 'grubconfig'.
