ppp configuration
I have just built a Slackware 9.1 firewall/gateway and have configured ppp using pppsetup. It's working fine, but as a new convert from RedmondHat I'm finding the Slack way of doing things quite different (refreshingly so in most cases!).
Anyway, what is the best way or place set up ppp to start on bootup? On RH9, I'd set up an ifcfg-ppp0 script to do this, but Slack doesn't seem to do things this way, all ppp config info is in /etc/ppp/options. Can I or should I set up a ppp0 interface in /etc/ppp/options or /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 ? Or do I run my own init script or an rc.local entry that calls 'ppp-go' or what?
I also want to be able to bring the interface up and down remotely from the LAN (on RH9 I used a desktop launcher on LAN clients that ran a script over SSH that ran 'ifup ppp0' on the server).
Any pointers greatly appreciated.
Last word: Slackware is definitely the best Linux I have ever seen. I've tried most. I'm never going back.
