So, I made partitions to my hdd, I installed the slack 10.2 and on start LILO starts up and I've the choice of which OS to use (win/slack).
I choose Slack and it loads , some textures show on screen and at the end I get a line to Log In.
what am I supposed to write there ? coz if I write anything, it says I have to write a password, I try to write any pass, but it doesn't even Let me write on the password field. please help
If you set up a user log in with that user;
then enter the password for that user;
YOU will not see it as you type;
Or log in as root
same thing enter the password and press enter;
You will not see anything as you type the password;
Have Fun

should I format my linux drives and reinstall at all the slack ?
No there is no need to re-install, too common of a solution. First, try and recall if you set absolutely any password during the install. If you did, that would be your root password. Type root for the user, and then type the password. I know it seems odd that you cannot see it, but it is a very nice security feature for "shoulder jackers" . If no password was set, (which would be rather awesome) maybe just type root and put in no password. When you get in, make sure that you run the "adduser" command and fill the appropriate info in. When that is done, log out, and log back in with the user you created. Try and refrain from logging in the system as root. It sounds like you might need to know how to change that root password of yours, (or create one :-S) when you get logged in. Type "su" when you are logged in under a normal user and then type "passwd", or (bleh) log into the system as root and run the "passwd" command.

damn I'm afraid then that I've set a pswd then omg.. coz I tried to put one and I didn't see anything(and as u said, invisibility is just a secure tool) and then just hit enter .. damn I'll have to reinstall it at all. and thanks for the info bout adding users, i'll try doin it as fast as I can run my slack at least
for dhcpcd eth0 it says that it does not recognize that command
and for the ping thing it says "google.com unknown host".
