No sound in Asus A7V266-MX motherboard with Slackware 9.1

Hello:

I am trying to use the on-board AD1980 SoundMAX sound card on my Asus A7V266-MX motherboard with alsaconf. Alsaconf is running but there is no sound. Can anybody help?

have you done a alsamixer to crank up the vol and pcm?these are mute by default, once these are done, do a alsactl store. Sound should be there.

I have a different Asus board...but when i had problems with sound...i downloaded the alsa driver for my board directly from the asus web site... if turning up the sound doesn't help....give it a try
