"3.3 Using Linux fdisk to create Linux partitions"

http://slackware.cs.utah.edu/slackwa...lackware-HOWTO

Boot off CD#1, press ENTER until you get a shell prompt, then use command 'fdisk'.

# fdisk /dev/hda
(NOTE: replace /dev/hda for the hard drive you want to partition.)

In fdisk, select 'm' to get a help listing of commands.
Select 'p' to display partitions.
Select 'd' to delete a partition.
Select 'n' to create a partition.
Select 'a' to make a partition "active" (bootable).

maybe you can still fix your problem. do you use an initrd when booting? check your boot config if you don't know, e.g. lilo or grub.

Just a guess here but the last time I saw that error from a Slack install CD it was a bad burn or bad iso , I forget which now. Try downloading the iso again, verify the checksum, and try another burn.
