bare.i + rootdisks only ISO image?

Hi,

I would like to create a bootable CD based on Slackware's bootable floppy images. Basically, I don't want to use floppies and I don't wanna have to download a full bootable ISO just to use as a boot CD later. I would like to create a bootable ISO small enough to fit on mini-cdr or mini-cdrw that would allow to start the installation process. Then I can mount the full ISO images or just use a premounted directory option. Could I just combine bare.i and rootdisks images into an ISO? Is this even possible? If no one has tried this, I could possibly be creating a tool that not only I can use but others as well.

Thanks for your input on this

Ok, I found RUNT Linux, created the bootdisk, and I was able to boot what it looks like ZIPSlack off from my USB HD. Cool! All is left for me to do is to mount the ISO image for CD1 and start the installation. However, how do I start the installation since I didn't boot off the CD?

Thanks.

Could someone at least reply and tell me if I'm S.O.L with this issue?

What's funny is that Fedora's bootdisks include USB mass storage support in the event someone wants to install Fedora from ISO.

But I don't want Fedora on my laptop.

ok, i got Slackware 10 on my laptop by using an extra FAT partition loaded with the slackware directory. basically i used the pre-mounted option during setup.

still, if there is a wish list for future slackware features, i'm going to post something about usb mass storage support and installing from iso in there.
