I have a MSI MP54GBT2 Mini PCI Type IIIB Combo Card Wireless network card built into my laptop. During the installation netconfig could not probe for this device. Does anyone know what module this card uses for "/sbin/modprobe " ?
What does lspci and dmesg | less offer? In kde info center is the wifi card listed and with what name? You can also check WinXP device manager for its description. MSI provides drivers for XP but no mention of linux.
Check at madwifi driver site for that card. You need correct firmware and driver(the driver may be included in newer kernels).
Now you can lookup RT2500 linux config or setup. Check out http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page for latest driver info. And ndiswrapper web site. The SW forum has several posts referencing that card. Just do a search at LQ forum or scan the last several months for similar posts.
Check out LQ Linux Laptop and Handheld forum. Inaugural forum sticky has great leads. Good luck.
