Minimal Slack install to minimize footprint?
I'm working on installing slackware on an old e-machine (it looks like an imac clone). Here's my goal: to install the minimal amount so that slack has a quick boot time (like arch) and so that there isn't any unneeded software installed.
My original plan: install only the base section (/a) and then install everything else that I need/want. Problem: With just the /a install, there aren't any dhcp commands to set up my network card (I know, it's under networking). So my question is this: What are the minimal packages I need to install to setup a basic desktop? This won't be a webserver, or a mail server, and I plan on using swaret to install x, kde, and all of that good stuff. Basically, I'm very familiar with gentoo and would like a comparable "base" install. THanks in advance. |
