Login freezes after successful install.

Hi

I'm a mid-term slackware user, but this has me stumped.

I've recently installed Slackware 10.0 on a new "old" box I've aquired. It went on first time no-problems. Then I changed LILO so it wouldn't wait to boot. Something went wrong, and I started gettin kernal panic messages. Not a problem - reinstall.

But things aren't going as they should be. Now I'm getting to the login prompt after successfully installing slackware, and it seems that my keyboard stops working. I just can't login. The keyboard lights won't activate or anything.

I've tried re-installing 4 times now, and i'm getting the same thing every time. The strange thing is i'm not doing anything strange - there's no custom changes other than de-selecting packages which I know I won't need (cdrdao, xine, etc).

Has anyone else come across this?

boot using disk 2
mount your partition that has your logs
read them, see if they have anything useful

Is your keyboard a USB with PS/2 connector by chance? If so, try plugging it in direct....worked here with the very same problem.

Hope this helps

No, not a USB keyboard. Not even PS2. Its a really old one, with a plug about twice the size of PS2.

Any other ideas?

Won't work - hangs while opening the RAMDISK.

sounds like bad ram, try making a memtest86 boot disk and see what it says

Everythings fine now, 7th re-install...

I think it was the PS2 connection and the settings for it which were causing problems. V.strange. Never had that before... Oh well.
