Hello,
I am attempting to install Slackware 14.1 on my Dell Latitude E6520 laptop. When I boot from the DVD and reach the GRUB screen, my keyboard mapping is fine (I can use the arrows and the enter key to select what to boot). However, when I boot the huge.s kernel and reach this point:
Code:
<OPTION TO LOAD SUPPORT FOR NON-US KEYBOARD>
If you are not using a US keyboard, you may need to load a different
keyboard map. To select a different keyboard map, please enter 1
now. To continue using the US map, just hit enter.
Enter 1 to select a keyboard map: _
My keyboard is no longer correctly mapped. For example, the enter key inserts an "a", the backspace key inserts a "`", etc. Some keys do not seem to be mapped to anything at all, and some characters appear to have no key mapped to them. Unfortunately, the newline character is one of those with nothing mapped to it, so I cannot progress beyond this point.
I have tried booting with and without the KMS console. I have also tried booting from both a DVD and a USB stick, with the exact same incorrect key bindings on all occasions.
I am also booting in UEFI mode, not legacy BIOS.
I have verified that the md5 sum of the .iso is correct.
There is not much out there about this issue. A few people with Sony laptops seem to have experienced something similar, but the only solution they found was to press the enter key madly during boot, which did nothing for me.
Any help would be much appreciated!
