an update:

well, i skimmed a bit in the slackware book and (probably beacause of the age of the document) in there, it is mentioned that slack can run in a 32mb machine. in the slackware.com system requirements page mentions that 64megs of ram are the minimum for 12.2 (i guess! does this refer to an earlier version?) to be loaded.

is all this valid? i mean, do i really need to upgrade my memory in order to load 12.2?

thx ppl!

EDIT: !ABORT! i found a thread on the same subject! please forgive my redundant posting!

Not only redundant - you are hi-jacking someone else's thread which is not a nice thing to do.

And for the record - Slackware 12.2 (unfortunately) requires a little over 64MB of RAM to install. It will run in much less though. In slackware-current we remedied the memory requirement so that the next Slackware release should again install to 64MB of RAM.
