installing slackware using only floppys

Hi,
I have an old laptop (compaq 8mb ram, 33mHz 200mb Hard drive) with network card and a floppy drive.
Any suggestions of the easiest way to get Slackware installed and also which version would be most suitable?
Many Thanks

sure. FTP install. Grab the bootdisk and rootdisk for slackware, then install as normal, but when it asks you for the installation medium, tell it ftp (or http, whatever you choose) install, and give it the url (a slackware mirror)

the install (slackware 10) only offers NFS install over the network. just how one go about doing an FTP or HTTP install?

Smile almost same question....

I just posted about the same question as you did and here is what OrphanedLand replyed. The website(lemoncube) is pretty good in explaining how to set-up a basic install with 7.1 Slack.

hey there. actually my question centers around the issue of installing Slackware without even a CD drive available. having only NFS install available for network install is no good so here's what i did (generally):

1. created a 200MB DOS partition (as /dev/hda1)
2. formatted DOS partition
3. made 4 diskettes of bare.i, install.1 and .2, network.dsk
4. booted the bare.i diskette and inserted appropriate floppy as asked
5. now when i got down to the login prompt, i used wget to download zipslack.zip to the DOS partition (after mounting it of course)
6. i used the "unzip" tool that came with one of the floppies i created and unzipped zipslack from the root of the DOS partition
7. then i went to this site http://www.slackware.com/faq/do_faq.php?faq=zipslack and followed Q1 and Q2

it's really frustating that slackware only offers NFS install when almost everyone uses FTP/HTTP installs.
